What is “We Create Space” (TVOŘÍME PROSTOR)?
Run by the City of Ostrava, this grant program supports local projects that improve public spaces and foster community life. It’s open to:
? Private individuals (non-commercial natural persons)
? Non-state non-profits (associations, public benefit organizations, institutions, foundations)
?️ Housing cooperatives and owners’ associations
So whether you’re an expat with an idea to brighten up your street, or a long-time local with a passion project, this program is for you.

What kinds of projects are funded?
Projects can be big or small, but they should share a few key qualities:
✔ They improve a public space in Ostrava
✔ They bring people together and strengthen community ties
✔ They involve local residents in the process
✔ They create a lasting impact
Think urban gardens, creative benches, painted underpasses, neighborhood clean-ups, pop-up meeting spots, or public art. The possibilities are wide open.
How does it work?
The process is simple and unfolds in three rounds:

Send your idea + budget
Share your vision and a basic budget with the city. -
Present your project
If selected, you’ll be invited to present your project to the evaluation committee. -
Submit your full application
If your idea moves to the final round, you’ll send in the full application and documentation. If approved — you’re funded!
